For Youth

Print

Beyond the Yellow Ribbon includes deployment and reintegration information for children of Service Members. It provides opportunities for children and youth to participate in activities that teach life skills while helping them cope and connect with other military peers in discussion groups. They hear from Service Members about missions and the life of a deployed Service Member. Youth are recognized for their important role in the military family.

Beyond the Yellow Ribbon youth programs include numerous different camps and retreats available for a variety of age groups. There are also grants available for families of Service Members to apply for to aid them financially while their Service Member is deployed. Along with providing resources and assistance for our youth, the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon team, along with the Minnesota Department of Education provides resources for educators to assist them in providing educated support to their military students and their families.

Operation Military Kids is a nation wide effort to support youth and families from every branch of the military. We know that there are youth and families who do not have a daily support network that would commonly be found on an installation, or who live in communities where people may not even know of their military connection. The Department of Defense supports Operation Military Kids and the programming that gets young people involved and connected to resources. Operation Military Kids has created an online training slideshow explaining their program and all they have to offer. Click here (external link) to view the online training.
