Cottage Grove

Leading up to being proclaimed Yellow Ribbon on Aug. 23, 2011, Cottage Grove developed an action plan that focused on helping families of deployed Servicemembers from all services and to offer help and guidance to others who have served. Though they have helped several families, their main focus has been on organization planning and the development of a marketing strategy. From day one, Cottage Grove has believed that they need to be in front of the public to get their message out.

Prior to being proclaimed, Cottage Grove was part of several "coming home" ceremonies in 2010-2011: the Monster Bash, Heritage Days in St. Paul Park, the Afton Orchard Maze and Strawberry Fest. Additionally, the city's Chamber of Commerce awarded The Cottage Grove Yellow Ribbon Network with the Public Service Award in 2011.
